Our achievements

At TasTAFE, we place our students at the centre of everything we do.

We celebrate the achievements of our students, as their success shows us that we are doing our job well – delivering quality teaching and learning, and preparing our students for employment.

We are proud to share some of our highlights from 2022.

TasTAFE cookery teacher, Matthew Fraser, was named VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year at the 2022 Tasmanian Training Awards.

Matthew, who teaches at TasTAFE Drysdale in Devonport, was recognised for his innovative approach to teaching and his commitment to his students.

“We’re in an evolving education and industry area at the moment, and we need to pivot to keep pace. I think the award is acknowledgment that people are seeing that we are trying to work for the better interest and outcomes of both student and industry.”

Fleur completed her Certificate III in Education Support at TasTAFE and is currently employed at St. Patrick’s College. While she has long wanted to work in a school, circumstances often got in the way of her beginning the journey, but she is glad to have taken the plunge.

“When COVID hit, I wasn’t really enjoying what I was doing and I saw the course advertised and I just thought ‘let’s take a leap of faith and do it’… So I just bit the bullet and did and it’s taken me in a whole new career direction. No looking back…I wish I had done it sooner.”
