Turn your passion for technology into an exciting career in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry with this practical qualification!

Do you enjoy working with technology and solving problems? Turn your interest into a career and equip yourself with the skills and knowledge needed in the ICT industry. The Certificate III in Information Technology focuses on key areas of computer networking, server operations, security, programming, web development and hardware/software support. Certificate III in Information Technology is not an entry level course and it is recommended that applicants entering into the course possess basic computer skills such as storing workplace information and maintaining information systems.

In this course, you’ll gain transferrable skills and knowledge across three core areas:

  1. Technical Support
    • Scan and remove malicious software
    • Troubleshoot and repair ICT equipment
    • Maintain and repair computer hardware and software
    • Create and maintain effective client communicational skills, and
    • Effectively document work using our live ICT ticketing system.
  2. Networking and Server Operations
    • Create, manage and troubleshoot networks
    • Install and configure desktop and server operating systems
    • Install, configure and secure a small office or home office network
    • Use virtualisation technology to create functional networks of virtual computers, and
    • Securely manage and protect workplace information.
  3. Programming and Web Development
    • Apply programming techniques using Python
    • Create simple programs and applications
    • Troubleshoot errors in code, and
    • Develop webpages using HTML and CSS.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will be equipped to seek employment supporting information technology activities in the workplace across a wide range of ICT areas such as: technical support, network administration, web technologies, and software application support.

You may also be interested in taking your studies at TasTAFE to the next level and completing one of our Certificate IV qualifications.
