TasTAFE recently signed a Deed of Collaboration with Foton Mobility Distribution to upskill tradespeople working on zero emissions vehicles.

TasTAFE and FMD will work together on developing relevant training programs and accreditations for people working in the industry.

In addition, TasTAFE and FMD have partnered with TAFEs and universities across the country to help create a pathway for technically trained workers to maintain and upgrade their skills in the maintenance of battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell zero emissions vehicles. This partnership will also allow TasTAFE to offer entry-level skills training to attracts workers to new opportunities in the zero emission space.

TasTAFE will work with FMD and other TAFEs and universities to develop a nationally consistent and recognised teaching curriculum designed especially for the maintenance and operation of new energy vehicles.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for TasTAFE to positively contribute to the Tasmanian Government’s renewable energy priorities and be seen as a leader in developing skills capability for the clean energy sector,” TasTAFE Manager Industry Relationships and Business Growth, Matthew Dance, said.

“We look forward to continuing our working relationship with FMD and other major energy project proponents to ensure Tasmania has the skills and training capacity to meet current and future industry demand.”
