Capable, compliant, learner-focused RTO: TasTAFE achieves re-registration for a further 7 years

TasTAFE has achieved an excellent result from its March 2026 audit by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), reaffirming its position as Tasmania’s trusted public provider of nationally recognised training and qualifications.

“TasTAFE has achieved its re-registration as a Registered Training Organisation for a further 7 years,” said TasTAFE CEO Dr Norman Baker.

“This outcome sends a strong signal to employers, industry partners, and learners across the state: Tasmania’s TAFE is delivering high-quality training that meets national standards.

“It confirms that TasTAFE is a reliable, high performing training provider that employers can trust and learners can be confident in. Our graduates enter the workforce with nationally certified qualifications that meet industry expectations and support the state’s economic growth.”

Dr Baker said the result reflects the professionalism and dedication of staff across the organisation.

“This result is something all TasTAFE staff can feel proud of. It highlights the collective effort of educators, support teams, and leaders who work every day to deliver high-quality vocational education and training in Tasmania.

“A significant contribution to this outcome was made by Executive Director Quality and Academic Services Lyndene Bowen and her Quality team, whose leadership, preparation and deep knowledge of the VET regulatory environment were central to this achievement and to supporting the organisation through the audit process.”

The audit, held during March this year, highlighted a small number of areas where elements of one of the audited Standards required further strengthening. Through the provision of additional evidence and a clear focus on continuous improvement, the regulator has recognised TasTAFE’s proactive and responsive approach to maintaining compliance.

“Outcomes of this nature are a routine part of external audits and serve as constructive opportunities to further enhance our systems and practices. We view this as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the quality and consistency of our training and assessment practices.

“The overall result reflects a robust, well governed organisation delivering training that is both compliant and responsive to Tasmania’s skills needs,” Dr Baker said.
