This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors, and develops the skills and knowledge needed to understand the VET sector, design learning to meet the needs of learners and enterprises, deliver training, and plan and conduct assessments.

This qualification is suitable if you have vocational qualifications and current experience using that qualification and are looking to conduct structured training and/or assessment using Nationally Recognised Training products.

At TasTAFE, TAE40122 is offered by enrolling separately in the five (5) separate skill sets plus the elective TAELLN421 unit:

  • Skill Set 1 - TAESS00028 Work Skill Instructor
  • Skill Set 2 - TAESS00017 Workplace Supervisor
  • Skill Set 3 - TAESS00021 Facilitation
  • Skill Set 4 - TAESS00019 Assessor
  • Skill Set 5 - TAESS00023 Online Learning and Assessment
  • + TAELLN421 elective unit

It is recommended to start with Skill set 1 then complete skill sets 2, 3, 4, 5 and elective unit in sequence. Applications open at different times for each skill set. Click on each one below for more information.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Skill Sets

Skill Set 1: TAESS00028 - Work Skill Instructor Skill Set

This skillset is offered in August and October.

Skill Set 2: TAESS00017 - Workplace Supervisor Skill Set

This skillset is offered in June and September.

Skill Set 3: TAESS00021 - Facilitation Skill Set

This skillset is offered in August and November.

Skill Set 4: TAESS00019 - Assessor Skill Set

This skillset is offered in August and October.

Skill Set 5: TAESS00023 - Online Learning and Assessment Skill Set

This skillset is offered in October.

TAELLN421 - Integrate core skills support into training and assessment

This elective unit helps trainers and assessors identify and support learners' language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) needs within vocational education and training. You will learn practical strategies to recognise skill gaps, embed foundation skills support into training and assessment, and create a more inclusive learning environment that improves learner confidence, engagement and success.

For students completing the stackable skill set pathway, TAELLN421 is included in the fifth and final enrolment of the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.If you are not completing the stackable skill set pathway, you may be able to meet this requirement through Credit Transfer using an eligible elective unit from a current Certificate III qualification or higher, subject to eligibility requirements.

Applicants who are unable to apply Credit Transfer will need to complete TAELLN421 as a standalone unit at a cost of $299.
