Kick-start your career in the construction industry with this nationally recognised course and gain the foundation skills employers are looking for!

This course is designed for individuals who are strongly interested in gaining employment/apprenticeship in the construction industry.

This course has two focus areas of study - Carpentry and Allied Trades (Bricklaying/Plastering/Painting/Tiling). Completing either focus area will give you the opportunity to undertake a basic construction project using basic tools, equipment and materials.

You can complete one of the following focus areas:

Carpentry

In this focus area, our experienced teachers will teach you how apply basic levelling procedures as well as how to use carpentry hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools and equipment. You’ll learn how to plan, organise work and carry out a range of measurements and calculations, and read and interpret plans and specifications.

Bricklaying, Plastering, Painting and Tiling

In this focus area, you will learn about handling and preparing bricklaying, plastering, painting and tiling materials, as well as the use of the relevant tools and equipment. You will also gain foundational skills in levelling procedures, working with plaster and plaster sheet, as well as installation of wall tiles.
