Community Services

No matter where you are in life, or what study or career goals you may have for your future, TasTAFE has a qualification or training program that is right for you!

If you like helping others or working with young people and children, completing a qualification in the Community Services area can lead to a wide range of rewarding career options that could be just right for you.

Employment opportunities range from working in the community services sector providing support and assistance to people who are experiencing barriers such as homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction, mental health issues, or financial problems, to a career in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector working with children in long day care centres, outside school hours care services or family day care, or a role as a teacher assistant in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools or colleges.

Qualifications offered by the Community Services team will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to work in these areas, as well as many others including youth work, counselling, community development and child protection in government and non-government organisations including not-for-profit agencies and Tasmanian Government departments.

The qualifications are delivered using a blend of knowledge-based learning and practical activities. All courses include work placements in real industry settings, providing you with a valuable opportunity to establish industry networks.

Prospective students seeking qualifications in Mental Health in 2017, should submit an Expression of Interest via the TasTAFE website.
