TasTAFE and Brighte, Australia’s leader in sustainable upgrades, have partnered to launch a scholarship program for eligible female electrical apprentices to train with TasTAFE.

The 2024 Brighte Women in Energy Scholarship, valued at $3,350, will assist in covering the cost of the successful recipient’s Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician training and fund the first year of the Clean Energy Council’s accredited solar installer fees.

“At Brighte, we believe strongly in investing in local communities, supporting local industry and growing female leaders of the future,” Brighte Founder and CEO Katherine McConnell said.

“The 2024 Brighte Women in Energy Scholarship is an exciting opportunity for Tasmanian women who are looking to develop their careers. We see assisting the growth of the sector in Tasmania as an important part of our administration of the Energy Saver Loan Scheme and our commitment to Tasmania.”

“There has never been a better time for women to enter the electrotechnology industry, the focus on renewable energy in this scholarship program is very appropriate,” TasTAFE CEO Grant Dreher said.

“The 2024 Brighte Women in Energy Scholarship is open to women who are enrolled in or are intending to enrol in Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician at TasTAFE in semester 1, 2024.

“The scholarship will be awarded to a female student who demonstrates a commitment to study and has an interest in the renewable energy industry,” Mr Dreher said.

As exclusive finance and administration partner of the Energy Saver Loan Scheme, Brighte has so far worked with the Tasmanian Government to manage over 2,700 applications, with over 70% going to local industry.

Brighte is on a mission to make sustainability accessible and affordable, offering consumers a fast and easy way to pay for solar, battery, home electrification and energy efficiency.

Brighte has to date approved over 190,000 households for upgrades, partnering with over 2,200 retailers nationally and processing more than $1.8 billion in finance applications. To date the Energy Saver Loan Scheme has approved $19 million in loans for Tasmanians.
