Shaken? Stirred? You’ll be able to do it all! Learn all the essential bar skills plus gain your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification!
If you have an outgoing personality and like the idea of meeting people while pulling beers or pouring wine, this 6-week course is for you! Running 2.5 days per week over 6 weeks, you will get the basics of working behind a bar along with your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification - a legal requirement when working with alcohol products in the hospitality industry.
In this course, you will have the opportunity to experience hands-on training in a working bar environment, including some evening bar services. You will gain the skills and knowledge required to prepare a bar for service, take drink orders, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and close the bar down. We’ve even added cocktails – you truly will have all the skills you need.
As part of the RSA qualification, you will get an overview of the service of alcohol and the law, as well as your legal responsibilities in providing service of alcohol to customers. You’ll learn how to serve alcohol responsibly and how to assist a patron to drink within appropriate limits, as well as identify alcohol-affected customers and ways to refuse to provide alcohol to those customers who are intoxicated. Importantly, this course also covers hygiene practices to follow for food safety.
If you’re looking to find a job behind a bar, or get your first taste of working in the dynamic hospitality industry, this short course is for you!
Upon completion, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to either a Certificate II or Certificate III in Hospitality, building a strong foundation for a career in the hospitality industry.
