Gain the skills and knowledge you need to safely operate and maintain quad bikes.

Quad bikes are commonly found on farms, however they can be extremely dangerous - with an average of 15 fatalities associated with using quad bikes reported in the Australian rural industry sector each year. These statistics are alarming, and as a result, Workplace Standards Tasmania has adopted a policy of zero tolerance for breaches of duty of care responsibilities with regards to quad bikes.

This one-day short course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to safely operate a quad bike, and is suitable for beginners through to more experienced riders. All aspects of the training are underpinned by work health and safety principles and legislative requirements. To undertake this course you must bring gloves, eye protection and sturdy footwear with all skin covered and be prepared for all weather conditions.

In this course, you will learn about pre-start checks, how to turn, swerve and make an emergency stop, and how and when to use 4WD, low range and diff locks. You'll also gain experience in how to operate a quad bike safely on a range of terrains, around obstacles and in different conditions, as well as how to load, secure and unload quad bikes onto trailers or other vehicles used for transport.

Your experienced trainer will also teach you how to carry out quad bike maintenance to comply with workplace procedures, work health and safety requirements, manufacturer's specifications and operator manuals and sustainability practices.

If you are intersted in undertaking this course at your workplace and have access to your own quad bike, please contact us to discuss how this course could be delivered for you.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed.
