Applicants are required to provide evidence of the following during the application process:
- Be the age of 18 by the course start date
- Working with vulnerable people registration (volunteer status)
- National Police Check - must be obtained from Service Tasmania
All students enrolling in this course are required to complete a National Police Check (NPC) free of disclosable offences to meet placement and course requirements through Service Tasmania.
- The application form can be downloaded online and submitted at any Service Tasmania centre.
- The cost of the check is $70.

As part of the application process, and before being offered a place in the course, a member of our Team will contact you to discuss if this course aligns with your goals and aspirations, and to ensure that you are fully informed and understand the course requirements. This does not apply to apprentices and trainees.
Pre-enrolment Skills Review
To progress through the TasTAFE application process, you are required to complete a Pre-enrolment Skills Review. The Skills Review is not a pass or fail test, but a questionnaire that will help identify your literacy, numeracy, digital and learning skills against the essential foundation skills required in this industry. Your responses will allow us to provide tailored advice to support your learning pathway. An email with a link to the Skills Review will be sent once your application has been reviewed by the Admissions team.
The fee you pay at TasTAFE will depend on the course you choose and may vary depending on the level of government subsidy available, the cost of delivery, any previous study you have undertaken and/or your personal circumstances. Tuition fees for this course are available at the top of the page via
the Fee Calculator.
Your tuition fees cover the basic materials needed for your course, but may not cover items such as text books, workbooks, uniform, online learning resources or personal protective clothing. Depending on your course, there may also be other expenses that you need to budget for.
For this course, you will need to pay for the following items:
- National Police check $70.00
- Working with vulnerable people card
- Employment / volunteer - $130.90
- Volunteer only - $22.44
- Change of class (upgrade from volunteer to employment or adding NDIS endorsement) - $108.46
- Materials fees- $60.00
For courses undertaken in 12 months or less, you will be invoiced the full course fee (including any other essential fees associated with your course).
*For courses studied over multiple years, your course and other fees will be split over the years of study, with the concession fee being charged on a yearly basis. At the time of enrolment you will be invoiced for the first year’s fees. An invoice will be raised in each subsequent year around the same time as your ‘enrolment anniversary’.

All students will need to obtain a current National Police Check which is free of serious convictions and a Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
Vaccinations are required by Industry for work placement.
On successful completion of this course you will receive a CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
