Start a rewarding career in the Community Services sector.
It is extremely rewarding to work with Community Services or Health organisations to support people within our local community. To do well in this sector, you will need good communication skills, an ability to show empathy and a willingness to work with people.
This course is offered fully online and is a pathway qualification into Community Services work and/or further study at Certificate III level in Individual Support (Aged and Disability specialisations). It is ideal if you are thinking about entering or re-entering the workforce and have an interest in working as a Community Services Worker.
In this course you will gain an overview of the health care, aged care and disability sectors, and learn how to support a diverse range of individuals by providing a first point of contact.
You’ll learn how to organise and complete daily work activities and participate in workplace health and safety activities, as well as communicate and work effectively in Health or Community Services settings.
Throughout the course, you’ll also gain the entry level skills you’ll need for further study in the Disability, Aged Care and/or Community sectors, and learn about a range of learning and employment pathways, as well as how to develop a resume and portfolio.
On successful completion of this course, you will have the skills and knowledge you need to volunteer for Community Services organisations, or seek employment as a Community Services Worker working under direct or regular supervision. You also might like to continue your training and undertake further study in one of TasTAFE’s Certificate III, IV or Diploma-level courses.
