Work outdoors. Work in trees. Grow your Arboricultural career.
If you are already working in industry, this qualification will build your specialist skills in tree identification and care, canopy and habitat management, pruning, and removal.
You will develop skills in canopy access for tree work, tree identification, monitoring and maintaining tree health. The course also covers pruning, rigging and dismantling techniques, how to safely perform aerial rescue, chainsaw use and maintenance, and first aid.
This workplace-based course is delivered as a statewide program, and learners are expected to travel for classes both on campus and off-site locations across the state.
Workplace-based training relies on the learner’s employer to provide opportunities for practice and experience on the job. The contact days with TasTAFE alone are not sufficient to pass this course. Learners need to be working in industry and apply the learning in the workplace, under the supervision of a trained and qualified arborist.
To commence this course, you will meet with one of our arboriculture specialists to discuss your enrolment and workplace arrangements, the personal protective equipment and climbing gear required for the course, specific elective units, and the course program.
This qualification is offered as an Australian Apprenticeship or as a non-apprentice program in Tasmania. It also supports updating of existing qualifications and meeting certification requirements, including aerial rescue and rigging.
This course aligns with industry safety expectations, including Safe Work Australia’s Guide to Managing the Risks of Tree Work, supporting best practice in arboriculture.
