This course is suitable if you are currently working in a suitable Animal Care workplace at an assistant level with some industry experience and want to further your knowledge and gain or upgrade a qualification, or if you are already working in the industry and want to progress your career. This course is open to students engaged in paid or voluntary employment (or a combination of both), including apprentices and trainees, who are working in a suitable animal care workplace for an average of 24 hours per week.

The core units of the course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to perform skilled work in a broad range of roles in animal care facilities and services, including boarding/day care, breeding, shelters/holding centres, pet grooming, pet sitting and other animal businesses. Your assessor will assist you in selecting elective units relevant to your work and goals in the industry.

On successful completion of this course you will have gained the knowledge and skills to undertake skilled work in animal care workplaces in a range of job roles including Pet Shop Worker, Pet Groomer, Animal Health Officer (Indigenous Communities), Animal Care Receptionist, Aquarium Assistant, Animal Carer, Pet Exerciser.
