TasTAFE delivers polyethylene (PE) welding training across Tasmania, providing specialist training solutions to support workforce development in the utilities, civil construction, water, gas and infrastructure sectors. Training can be delivered in metropolitan, regional and remote locations, ensuring industry and participants have access to high-quality skills development regardless of their location. ·
TasTAFE delivers a Polyethylene Welding Skill Set comprising the following nationally recognised units of competency:
- PMBWELD301E – Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using butt welding
- PMBWELD302E – Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using electrofusion welding
- PMBWELD309E – Weld plastic using extrusion techniques
The training provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely prepare, weld, inspect and test polyethylene piping systems in accordance with industry standards and workplace requirements. Participants gain hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment and techniques, developing competency in butt welding, electrofusion welding and extrusion welding applications commonly used across water, gas, mining and civil construction projects. Delivered by qualified trainers with extensive industry experience, the training emphasises safety, quality assurance, compliance and best-practice welding procedures. Participants who successfully complete the training receive an industry-recognised polyethylene welding card, providing evidence of their competency and supporting workforce compliance requirements.
