The plumbing industry is one of the most diverse and vibrant trades within the construction sector and plays a significant role in the Tasmanian and broader Australian economy.
As one of the original licensed trades, Plumbers are directly responsible for the health and safety of the community through the provision of safe drinking water supplies, sanitation, stormwater drainage and gas systems.
This pre-apprenticeship Plumbing program is a nationally recognised qualification that focuses on preparing you for employment as an apprentice with job-ready skills of immediate value to employers.
This course is open to prospective plumbers of all ages and life stages and is ideal for both school leavers wanting to gain practical skills and knowledge, and mature aged applicants seeking to start a career change.
Throughout this course you will learn about plumbing-specific WHS requirements, the history of the plumbing industry in Australia and be introduced to the water, sanitary/drainage, roof, gas and mechanical services streams that make up the Plumbing sector.
You will also develop the skills and knowledge you need to read and interpret drawings and plans, carry out measurements and calculations, fabricate and install simulated piping systems and develop basic work skills with plumbing hand and power tools.
On successful completion of this course, you will be well-equipped with the job-ready plumbing skills you need to seek an apprenticeship in the Plumbing industry.
