Agfest is widely recognised as Tasmania’s premier rural event and TasTAFE is thrilled to again be in the paddock!

At TasTAFE we offer hundreds of qualifications, skill sets, and short courses. Our training is practical and relevant – providing real-world skills for today’s workforce.

Whether you are looking to get a job, change careers or land that promotion, or employ an apprentice/trainee, come along, and have a chat to our friendly staff about your training needs.

Everyone who visits our marquee and registers for INFO Week, submits an expression of interest for a course, and/or applies for a course during AGFEST will be entered into the draw to win an iPAD.

You must submit your registration, EOI, or application when in the marquee and it must be a new enquiry/application. The winner will be announced by Wednesday 8 of May 2024.

Demonstrations

We’re all about practical skills at TasTAFE, and over the three days, we’re having demonstrations by our butchery, cookery, hairdressing, primary industries, health, automotive and early childhood teams:

Exhibit Day 1 (Thursday 2 May 24)

Time	Event
10.00-10.45am	Our Hairdressing students will be demonstrating braiding and some hair ups. Beauty students will do lash and brow tinting and lash extensions demonstrations.
10.45-11.15am	Join our Horticultural teachers as they demonstrate how to pot up indoor plants.
11.30-12.00pm	Puppet and felt stories will bring stories to life during our story time.
12.15-12.45pm	Join our cookery teachers to learn how to make a quick and easy meal.
1.45-2.15pm	Join our Guiding teacher and students to learn tips and tricks for setting up tents easily.
2.30-2.50pm	Evelyn Archer, our renowned Wool Classer and TasTAFE teacher will have samples of wool and discuss the clip, how it is classed and why it’s important to the industry.

Exhibit Day 2 (Friday 3 May 24)

10.15-10.45am	Join our Horticultural teachers as they demonstrate how to pot up indoor plants.
11.30-12.00pm	Our butchery team will show you the secrets to making great tasting sausages.
12.15-12.45pm	Join our cookery teachers to learn how to make a quick and easy meal.
1.00-1.30pm	Shaken, stirred or blended? Learn the art of mocktail-making and be the envy of your friends at your next gathering.
1.45-2.15pm	Join our Guiding teacher and students to learn tips and tricks for setting up tents easily.
2.30-3pm	Puppet and felt stories will bring stories to life during our story time.

Exhibit Day 3 (Saturday 4 May 24)

11.30-12.00pm	Our butchery team will show you the secrets to making great tasting sausages.
12.15-12.45pm	Join our cookery teachers to learn how to make a quick and easy meal.
1.00-2pm	Our butchery team will show you the secrets to processing game meat.

Activities

Along with demonstrations, our marquee will feature a range of hands-on activities for you to participate in! These include;

A plant display for you to try your luck identifying plants in our competition: “ID ME”
VR Reality - Try our immersive Virtual Reality experiences in human anatomy and body systems or test your skills as a welder or an automotive spray painter!
Origami Making – Get creative with our Origami Animal community. Learn how to fold and create your very own animal.
Cow Ear Tagging - Visit each afternoon between 2.45 pm and 3.45 pm to practice your cow’s ear tagging on our calf simulator (Adults only)
Test your knowledge with our foundation skills quiz whilst chatting with our team about the many training options available.
