Do you work on the land or want to? Increase your employment opportunities by learning how to safely operate a tractor and front-end-loader!

Tractors and front-end loaders are widely used in agriculture, horticulture and land management. Operating this machinery can be dangerous, so you need to know what you are doing! This short course provides you with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a tractor and a front-end loader in an agricultural environment.

In this course, you will learn how to prepare tractors and front-end loaders for operation, select the right safety gear and equipment, as well as carry out pre-start checks and daily servicing. You’ll climb aboard and learn to drive a tractor smoothly, using various operating techniques and work practices, and follow shut down procedures. On the front-end loader, you’ll also learn how to select the right loading technique for a variety of work conditions.

This two day course is suitable for beginners, as well as more experienced operators who need a refresher. With a strong emphasis on safety, you will also learn how to identify potential hazards and risks and implement safe working practices to manage risks.

By the end of day two, you will need to have demonstrated your ability to prepare for, safely operate and complete tractor operations. If further practice is required to achieve competency, you will need to arrange for more supervised practice within your workplace, and can then contact TasTAFE teacher to arrange another opportunity to demonstrate practical skills for assessment within six months of completing initial course.

Add some practical skills and knowledge to your skill set for work in the Agriculture, Horticulture and Land Management sectors!
