Short Course WHS for Health and Safety Representatives (1 day Annual Refresher)

This is the annual one day Health and Safety Representative training course approved by the regulator that HSRs are entitled to under the WHS Act. It enables HSRs to be able to effectively perform their functions and exercise their powers under the WHS Act. The course allows for HSRs to network and develop confidence in their role.

  • HSRs have the right to choose their training provider in consultation with their employer
  • Your employer should pay the course fees and give you paid time off work to attend training

TasTAFE provides quality, practical HSR and WHS training and qualifications. This course empowers HSRs to effectively contribute to healthy safe productive workplaces, and prevent death, injuries and disease. It involves learning and practice through practical group activities, role plays and scenarios. This enables participants to contribute to building effective, compliant WHS systems, positive cultures and performance in their work group.

Participants revise and discuss practical experiences in:

  • applying legislation to solve problems
  • using the risk management process and hierarchy of control
  • consulting, communicating and issue resolution to foster continual WHS improvement
  • contributing to health and safety committees, WHS procedures and management systems
  • preventing and investigating incidents.
