If you currently hold an occupational licence as an Electrical Technician and want to learn how to install split air-conditioning and heat pump systems or split system hot water systems – have we got a cool (or hot!) course for you!

This course has restricted entry requirements and is designed specifically for current Electrical Technicians who hold an occupational licence and/or relevant units and who want to undertake the additional units required to be able to install split air-conditioning and heat pump systems or split system hot water systems.

During this five-day course, you will gain the skills and knowledge you need for the installation, commissioning and de-commissioning of single head, split air conditioning and heat pump systems where the maximum plan capacity for each system does not exceed 18 kWr.

Our experienced teaching team will provide guidance as you work with wall-hung, floor and ceiling-suspended cassette and ducted fan coil split systems, as well as water heating heat pump systems.

You’ll also gain experience preparing and connecting refrigerant tubing and fittings, positioning, assembling and starting up single head split air conditioning and water heating heat pump systems, and recovering, pressure testing, evacuating, charging and leak testing refrigerants.

At the end of this course you will be required to complete an onsite practical assessment.

On successful completion of this course – in alignment with your existing Electrical Technician licence – you will be awarded UEE20111 – Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems. This will enable you to apply to the Australian Refrigeration Council for appropriate licensing.

Note– this qualification excludes the competencies required for service, repair, maintenance, diagnostic/fault finding and electrical work, or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump plant and equipment.
