Equip yourself with the skills and knowledge to successfully control and implement traffic management plans.

Note– the release of the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management is to be implemented on 1 July 2020 in Tasmania, and specifies additional training requirements for all traffic training.

This one-day short course covers the skills and knowledge you need to effectively control traffic with a stop–slow bat and safely implement a traffic management plan.

In this course, you will cover the theory and practical skills you need to control traffic on public roads and construction work sites for the protection of site workers and the general public.

You will lean to plan and prepare your worksite, use a stop–slow bat, and operate a radio, as well as coordinate traffic and undertake clean-up of the site.

Our experienced teaching team will also supervise and assist you in learning how to implement Traffic Management Plans for public and private roads, parking areas and restricted access construction sites. You’ll learn how to set out, monitor and close down the traffic guidance scheme using signage.

Once completing this short course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units successfully completed and a TasTAFE competency card.

Note– traffic control at work sites in Tasmania must be carried out in accordance with Australian Standard AS1742.3. Personnel who undertake operational traffic management activities must complete RIIWHS205E – Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat and RIIWHS302E – Implement Traffic Management Plan, as required by the Tasmanian Department of State Growth.
