Do you enjoy working outside? The Tasmanian wine industry needs skilled workers at vineyards across the state. Get the skills you need for successful planting of vines, plus pest and canopy management with this course!

This short course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge needed for entry level work in the growing wine industry. You will learn how to plant cuttings and rootlings by hand. You'll gain the skills and knowledge needed to check on vine health. This includes recognising the symptoms and identifying the cause of pests, diseases and plant disorders. This course also covers basic wine grapevine canopy maintenance using manual and motorised equipment. Over six weeks, you’ll attend training two days per week. Training includes classes on campus and practical training at vineyards in the local region.

If you’re starting out in the industry, this short course is a great first step. It would also be valuable if you’re looking to establish your own vineyard.

On successful completion, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to gain work in a vineyard in production support role. You may like to continue with your study in this field or consider an apprenticeship.
