Get a head start in your construction career with this taste of the industry!
The construction industry is booming and there is currently a shortage of skilled workers across the sector. This course will show employers you are ready for the next step by giving you the foundation skills and knowledge to gain an apprenticeship in a construction trade or look for employment as a trades assistant.
This course covers essential safe work practices in construction workplaces and covers the basic work health and safety (WHS) requirements to undertake work within any sector of the industry. After successfully completing this unit, you’ll then learn about levelling in a single plane on residential and commercial work sites and get to set-up, test and use a range of levelling equipment. You’ll also gain the skills and knowledge to complete simple forms of concreting like minor slabs and pathways. You’ll learn about the requirements to meet the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and other legislation.
This course is delivered face to face, 3 days a week over a 3-week period and involves practical activities on campus.
On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed. You might also like to further your skills by undertaking a CPC20112 Certificate II in Construction which is a direct pathway into gaining an apprenticeship within the construction industry.
