If you are looking to gain a qualification in the Beauty Services industry but are not currently employed in a beauty salon, this great alternative non-trade pathway might be just the course you have been looking for!
This qualification is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a beautician and provide a range of beauty services to clients including nails, waxing, lash and brow, and basic make-up services.
As part of the course, you will have the opportunity to develop technical and customer service skills, as well as learn how to provide client consultation on beauty products and services, and conduct salon financial transactions
You’ll gain extensive hands-on experience in providing quality lash and brow services, waxing services, and manicures and pedicures, as well as how to design and apply make-up and apply cosmetic tanning products. In addition, you will gain valuable experience in how to research and apply beauty industry information and comply with organisational requirements within a personal services environment, as well as how to apply safe hygiene, health and work practices.
Depending on your location, you will also have the opportunity to specialise in providing female intimate waxing services (Alanvale and Devonport campuses only) or designing and applying creative make-up (Campbell Street Campus). Other electives are available at all three locations and include the application of eyelash extensions, nail art and how to sell beauty products and services.
Successful completion of this course will provide you with the skills sets and knowledge you need to operate effectively in the Beauty industry. You may be interested in pursuing work in a beauty, waxing, brow or nail salon, or you may decide to undertake further study with SHB40115 – Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or SHB30315 – Certificate III in Nail Technology.
