CPCPGS4023B Install, Commission and Service Type B Gas Appliances
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to install, commission and service Type B gas appliances, from the gas isolation valve and electrical isolation switch to the flue spigot on the appliance, according to current and relevant standards.
Type B Industrial Gas Appliances are required to be operated and maintained by licensed individuals in accordance with the Tasmanian Occupational Licensing Act and Regulation.
This unit of competency supports the needs of appropriately qualified experienced persons with a responsibility for interpreting and applying pre-existing design specifications; gaining approvals from authorities; preparing for work; installing gas system components and associated electrical or electronic components and controls; testing, adjusting, commissioning and servicing Type B gas appliances; and completing work finalisation processes, including formal recording and reporting requirements.

What will I need to bring?
Participants must supply, pen, paper, digital multimeter, Australian Standard clear safety glasses and steel capped footwear.
Participants must have trade backgrounds from the following areas – Electricians, Gas Fitter, Plumbers and Mech Service Plumber with a gas fitters licence.
All participants must be qualified and/or hold a Restricted Electrical License or full Electrical license prior to course commencement. TasTAFE is able to provide REL Training at regular intervals around the state.
Work Placements, Licensing and Other Requirements
Successful completion allows participants to apply to Consumer Building and Occupational Services for appropriate licensing.
