The Forest industry forms an important part of Tasmania’s economy, and if you like working outdoors with big machinery… the career opportunities are varied and extensive!

This qualification is designed for people who are already working in the Harvesting and Haulage sector – either as an existing worker or as a new starter to the industry. So, if you are looking to gain formal recognition of your existing skills, develop new and existing skills or obtain multiple endorsements for your Forest Operator’s Licence, then this nationally recognised course is just what you are looking for!

When you enrol, your TasTAFE assessor will meet with you to discuss your level of experience and any specific training needs you might have. The length of time taken to complete this qualification will vary according to your experience and existing skills.

You’ll be able to undertake the training and/or assessment on-the-job in your workplace, and develop your skills in evaluating fire potential and prevention, implementing safety, health and environment policies and procedures and conducting quality and product care procedures.

You’ll also have the opportunity to increase your skills in providing first aid, communicating and interacting effectively in the workplace and how to contribute to team effectiveness, as well as the opportunity to select six elective subjects that suit your needs and interests.

On successful completion of this course, you will have the skills you need to work effectively in the Forest and Forest Products industry in a variety of roles.

This course is also available as an Australian Apprenticeship.
