TASMSS0071 Electrical Skill Set for Automotive Technicians

This is a locally recognised skill set (Tasmania) covering the fundamental requirements for automotive technicians to diagnose and repair electrical faults in contemporary vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

TASMSS0071 – Electrical Skill Set for Automotive Technicians is for existing workers in the field of heavy vehicle and motorcycle service and repair.

This course is for people who are currently employed in the automotive industry.   To enrol in this course, you must be employed in the industry or have access to a relevant workplace.

Note: If you hold AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology you can also complete the nationally recognised AURSS00029 – Automotive Electrical Skill Set for Light Vehicle Technicians.

Campbell Street Campus

  • Rolling intakes: You can start this course at any time.
  • Duration: Day Release – 1 day (day or night) per week for 32 weeks,
    • Day classes:   Monday to Thursday – 8:am to 4:30pm
    • Night classes:  TBC – 6pm to 9pm

NORTH
Alanvale Campus

  • Rolling intakes: You can start this course at any time.
  • Duration:  Block Release either 3 x 2 week Blocks or 6 x 1 week blocks, Day Release:  1 day per week for 30 weeks, Monday to Friday – 8am to 4:30pm

Assessments are designed to help you demonstrate your skills and knowledge.  They allow us to confirm you can perform to the standard required in the workplace, to meet all of the requirements of the course.

What will I need to bring?

Students will need to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment, which includes.

  • Safety glasses – required to meet Australian Standards AS1337 and have clear lenses
  • Safety Footwear (steel cap toe)
  • Combination overalls
  • Optional – Hearing protection (ear muffs/ear plugs)
  • Optional – Hand protection (gloves)
