Develop your career in building management and get the skills you need to effectively manage a small to medium-sized building and construction business or construction of low-rise building projects.
This qualification is ideal if you are currently working within the building industry or looking to develop a career performing supervisory or management roles, and is the minimum requirement for licencing purposes in relation to domestic and low rise Builders in Tasmania.
In this course, you will learn to read and interpret plans and specifications, plan building or construction work and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects.
Our experienced teachers will help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to apply structural principles to residential and commercial low rise constructions, conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects and apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low-rise building projects. You’ll also learn how to manage work health and safety in the building and construction workplace.
Throughout this course, you will also have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on skills in preparing construction contracts, managing small business finances and producing labour and material schedules for ordering, as well as how to select, procure and store construction materials for low-rise projects and apply legal requirements to building and construction projects.
On successful completion of this course, you will be equipped with the leadership and management skills you need to either run your own business or coordinate industry subcontractors in the building and construction industry, and be able to apply to the Department of Justice’s Consumer, Building and Occupation Services (CBOS) for a Builders licence.
