SIT40416 Certificate IV in Hospitality

SIT40416 Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification is part of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package. It reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with sound knowledge of industry operations. It provides a pathway to work as a team leader or supervisor in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

This qualification is for individuals who have successfully completed a Certificate III qualification in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery or Tourism and who are now aiming to progress to a supervisory position within the hospitality/tourism industry.

This course focuses on a range of middle management skills that apply to a broad range of hospitality/tourism industry operational areas including food and beverage, accommodation services, commercial cookery, retail travel and events. Successful completion of a Hospitality/Tourism Certificate III course is part of the pathway to the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality/Tourism Management and the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality/Tourism) at University of Tasmania.

Essential: Successful completion of a Certificate III in Hospitality, Tourism or Commercial Cookery and attendance at a pre-selection interview.
Desirable: A strong work ethic and understanding of and commitment to the Tasmanian tourism and hospitality industry. Preferably be employed in the industry.

Qualification Requirements

To successfully complete this qualification you need to complete 21 units, comprising of:

  • 9 core
  • 12 elective
