Personal Trainer – Aim of our Training
SIS40210 Certificate IV in Fitness will equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitude to become competent and professional exercise/personal trainers. This qualification covers a range of activities and functions within the Fitness industry, including working independently in a broad range of settings, such as within fitness centres, gyms, community facilities and in open spaces. Graduates will have the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate exercise training, provide leadership and guidance to clients on a one-to-one basis as well as group classes. They will also have the ability to monitor and manage business activities to operate efficiently and profitably.
The course is aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills to work as exercise/personal trainers.

NOTE: There is no car parking available for students on campus. There is parking for bicycles.
The course is delivered through a combination of lectures held at the Drysdale Campus, Hobart and participation in a mentoring program with a personal trainer.
Students knowledge and skills are assessed throughout the course. Assessments will consist of a range of methods including:
- Written and verbal questions
- Practical exercises and demonstrations
- Project work
- Mentor’s report
- Practical demonstration of fitness exercises using gym equipment

- Hold a Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30310)
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate (can be undertaken as part of the course for an additional fee)
- Attend a pre-selection interview
The nationally accredited Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210) course at the Drysdale Campus, Hobart consists of 15 units, 10 core units and 5 elective units.
