RII20115 Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation

This course covers many aspects of civil construction and mining industries and is a perfect starting point for a career in these areas.

This qualification is ideal for students who wish to build their practical experience and knowledge to ensure their employability as an apprentice.

This program covers the “hands-on” skills and knowledge required at the entry level, including the safe use of most of the tools and equipment used in these industries. All training is delivered by professional teachers, with many years experience in the civil construction and mining industries

This RII20115 Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation is a pathway qualification and will prepare an individual to successfully undertake a sector specified Certificate III from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

Essential Requirements

To complete TLILIC2001 Licence to operate a forklift truck  Participants must be from 18 years of age and comply with the requirements outlined in the application for high risk work (GF083) published by Workplace Standards Tasmania and have a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

Units you will be studying will be outlined before you start this course. We will discuss these in our information sessions for pre-apprenticeships. You will need to be able to write legibly. Students are expected to:

      • Read and interpret Occupational Health and Safety guidelines (eg safe use of equipment and chemicals)
      • Deal with basic maths (eg add, subtract & multiply)
      • Read and understand material (eg instructions for use, plans etc)
      • Write legibly

Support is available to help students who may have difficulty meeting the above requirements. Some of these skills may be improved through the learning processes.
