Roll up your sleeves and get the training you need to become a qualified Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanic and learn how to service and repair a range of outdoor power equipment including chainsaws, brush cutters, water pumps, generators and post-hole diggers… just to name a few!
This nationally recognised qualification will prepare you with the skills and knowledge you need as a new employee entering the outdoor power equipment retail, service and repair industry, and is also ideal if you are an existing worker looking to further develop your skills or gain formal recognition for the work you already do.
In this course you will cover the range of skills and knowledge you need to work effectively in the outdoor power equipment industry as a qualified Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanic.
You’ll learn how to follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace, and how to service and repair rotary cutting systems, chainsaw cutting systems and reciprocating saws and cutting systems. You’ll also learn how to inspect and service line trimming systems and components, and service and repair post boring systems, post hole digging systems and pumping systems, as well as how to diagnose and repair pumping systems.
Throughout the course, you will also gain lots of hands-on experience using and maintaining tools and equipment in an automotive workplace, and in inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing outdoor power equipment engines, as well as how to undertake an overhaul of outdoor power equipment engines.
On successful completion of this course, you will have gained the skills you need to service and repair a wide range of outdoor power equipment including chainsaws, brush cutters, water pumps, generators and post-hole diggers. You might also like to seek further employment opportunities in more specialised diagnostic, servicing, repair and maintenance roles, or you might be interested in continuing your training at TasTAFE and going on to undertake a related qualification in Automotive Electrical Technology, Motorcycle or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Mobile Plant Technology.
This course is also available as an Australian Apprenticeship.
