Gain the specialised knowledge and skills you need to undertake skilled work as an Arborist in the arboriculture industry.
If you are already employed in the industry or are working in a job with arboriculture-related tasks, this qualification will allow you to gain specialist skills and knowledge in tree management, pruning and dismantling. This qualification is also useful if you are looking to update your existing qualifications and meet certification requirements for activities such as aerial rescue and rigging practices where training currency is required.
In this course you will learn how to tie, dress, set and finish arborist knots, identify trees and inspect them for access and work, as well as perform pruning operations.
Throughout the course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice operating a pole saw, chainsaw and felling trees manually, as well as coordinating work site activities.
This course also includes a number of practical sessions in parklands and forest environments where you will have the opportunity to develop your standard and advanced climbing techniques with ropes, harnesses and specialised equipment under the supervision of practising Arborists. You’ll learn how to undertake aerial rescue, perform ground-based and aerial rigging, as well as develop your tree dismantling techniques.
On successful completion of this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised occupational outcome with the specialised knowledge and skills required to undertake skilled work as an Arborist in the Arboriculture industry.
This qualification is also offered as an Australian Apprenticeship.
Note – this course is available to both apprentices and non-apprentices.
