If you are already working part-time or as a volunteer in the turf industry – or if you want to take the first step towards a career working outdoors looking after sports venues/grounds – why not gain a nationally recognised qualification in Sports Turf Management?

This course is ideal if you are new to – or already working in – the Sports Turf Management industry, and consists of a mixture of theory and practical, hands-on sessions.

In this course, you’ll have the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as the treatment of weeds, turf renovation, environmental practices, irrigation maintenance and preparing a turf surface for play.

You’ll also learn how to plant trees and shrubs, assist with soil or growing media sampling and testing, and how to participate effectively in work health and safety processes in the turf management context.

Throughout the course you will also have the opportunity to experience regular work placements at various sporting venues including golf courses, cricket grounds and bowls club… and get the chance to put some of your skills into practice in keeping the turf as green as Donald Bradman’s cap!

On successful completion of this course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification in Green-keeping and the practical skills you’ll need to pursue a career working outdoors at a variety of sports venues. As part of the course, you will also gain national ChemCert accreditation as well as accreditation for operating and maintaining chainsaws and brush cutters.

This course is available as an Australian Apprenticeship.
