The delivery of digital content via the internet is now an important and valued skillset for many businesses across a range of industries.

This short course is designed to give you an introduction into video/film production, where you will learn how to assist with a basic camera shoot and undertake basic vision and sound editing.

The course is ideal if you are looking for an introduction into the video/film industry, or if you are looking to extend your skills in your current role with web publishing skills and social media content production.

In this course you will learn how to transfer and digitise video content, and prepare vision and sound content segments for editing, as well as log single images, audio grabs and basic sequences, and edit content using basic functions of editing software.

You’ll also learn about different procedures for completing workplace documentation, and how take direction and respond to feedback from a supervising editor.

The course runs over seven weeks and consists of 2-hour structured online tutorials led by your teacher at a set time each week. You will also need to commit to at least 5 hours a week to work independently on structured tasks and activities. On successful completion of this course, you will have gained a range of basic video and film editing skills, and be well equipped to create basic digital content for different audiences. You may also be interested in undertaking further study at TasTAFE with CUA41215 – Certificate IV in Screen and Media, CUA30715 – Certificate III in Design Fundamentals, CUA40715 – Certificate IV in Design or ICT40315 – Certificate IV in Web Technologies.
