Get the skills and knowledge you need to satisfy Tasmanian legislative requirements and associated Codes of Practice to provide responsible gambling services to customers.
Gambling in Tasmania is regulated under the provisions of the Gaming Control Act 1993, and requires employees working in the gaming industry to hold an appropriate licence and, in some cases undertake prescribed training courses to satisfy the legislative requirements.
This short course is designed for people who are currently working*, or wish to work within a gaming venue providing responsible gambling services to customers.
In this course, you will focus on the skills you need to provide responsible gambling services, information and assistance to customers, and learn how to read and interpret complex information relating to problem gambling signage, information and brochures. You’ll also learn to read and interpret industry and regulatory codes of conduct, and regulatory and advisory information issued by local, state and territory gambling licensing authorities.
Throughout the course, you’ll also learn how to respond to problem gambling behaviour and deal courteously and discreetly with customers, how to identify potential problem gamblers and apply appropriate solutions within the scope of your responsibility, and when to seek assistance from appropriate colleagues. You’ll also learn how to use appropriate software to record gambling-related incidents and staff actions.
On successful completion of this short course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units successfully completed.
*If you are currently working within a gaming venue, you might like to enrol in our online Responsible Gambling Services course. If you are not currently working within a gaming venue, you will need to enrol in an on-campus course.
Please note – if you wish to work in licensed venues in states other than Tasmania, you are advised to check with relevant State Licensing Authorities to confirm acceptance of this qualification issued from Tasmania.
