Gain the skills and confidence you need to enter the workforce or engage in further education and training.

This nationally recognised qualification is designed to give you greater skills and confidence in seeking employment or in taking the next step towards further education and training – and the best bit… its fee free for eligible Tasmanian residents!

In this course, you will focus on topics that allow you to explore work and training opportunities and career planning, as well as developing soft skills such as team work, critical thinking, problem solving and managing conflict.

Our experienced teaching team will also provide you with support in developing effective workplace communication skills, as well as improving your reading, formal writing and numeracy skills.

You’ll learn how to improve your personal confidence and self-image, and use basic skills for assertiveness, as well as examine ethical issues in the workplace, participate in diverse formal learning environments and use basic media products to share stories.

You’ll also learn how to prepare and deliver presentations and use digital technology for a range of routine workplace tasks, as well as collect data and construct routine tables and graphs, write routine workplace documents, and read and respond to visual and graphic texts.

To be successful in the course you will need to commit to up to 20 hours of learning per week.

On successful completion of this course, you will be well equipped with the skills you need to seek employment and enter the workforce in a broad range of industry areas, or you might like to continue your studies and undertake further training at TasTAFE at Certificate III or IV level.
