If you are looking to start your career in the Agriculture or Production Horticulture industries, our Agriskills Entry Program will provide you with a range of core agricultural skills that employers are looking for.
Designed to give new and existing workers essential job-ready skills required by industry, the Agriskills Entry Program is an exciting new initiative developed in conjunction with Fruit Growers Tasmania that provides a great pathway into employment in the Agricultural and Production Horticultural industries.
In the Agriskills Entry Program, you’ll gain a variety of essential industry-relevant and transferable skills, as well as have the opportunity to set yourself up with skills and knowledge you need to potentially transition into a Certificate II traineeship or Certificate III apprenticeship.
The program consists of three separate skill sets. This skill set (Skill Set 1) must be completed before you can begin Skill Set 2 or Skill Set 3.
Skill Set 1 focuses on providing five valuable units covering first aid, and how to shift materials safely using manual handling methods, as well as how to operate quad bikes, side-by-side utility vehicles and how to operate and maintain chainsaws.
Delivered state-wide via a combination of online theory and several days practical learning and assessment, this initiative is a part of Tasmania’s COVID-19 recovery plan and will help build Tasmania’s fruit growing, vegetable, livestock and dairy workforces.
On successful completion of each skill set, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed.
